β-SiC and Synthetic Carbon Catalyst Carriers

Enabling new chemistries with cutting- edge/ resilient catalyst carriers that defy the limitations of traditional carriers.

About Us

SICAT and ACM, established in 2000 and 2010 respectively, have evolved from idea to lab to pilot to commercial scale production of mesoporous Beta SiC and synthetic carbons, with Sicat serving as the R&D arm and ACM as the commercial and manufacturing branch. In May 2023, Saint-Gobain Norpro acquired a majority stake in SICAT SAS and ACM GmbH, enabling ACM to invest in a new production line and increase its throughput to 150 tons per year of catalyst carriers.

Our affiliates include bobine, a joint venture focused on chemical recycling of plastics, and TrapAparT, aimed at passive air purification technology.

Our Solutions

Problems & Solutions

Aggressive chemical environment

Catalyst integrity is attacked

Resistant carriers

Our carriers resist many acids/bases, oxidation and hydrothermal aging

High exothermicity / endothermicity

Catalyst temperature hard to control

Outstanding thermal conductivity

Our carriers conduct heat very well and can also be used as catalyst diluent

Bulky molecules

Potential diffusional limitations

Mesoporous carriers

Our carriers exhibit high volumes of large mesopores

Variable shapes

For optimal geometric surface area

Carrier-inherent impurities

Impurities may affect reaction

High-purity carriers

Our synthetic carriers are high purity

Microwave-heated reactions

Most catalyst carriers not heated by MW

Highly sensitive carriers

MWs heat our Beta SiCs with high efficiency

Our products

β-SiC Silicon Carbide

The distinctive qualities of our β-SiC Silicon Carbide products derive from SICAT’s self-bonding SiC process.

mesoC+™

SICAT engineered mesoC+™ carbon pellets with a significant enhancement in mechanical strength compared to existing shaped activated carbons. Alongside its pore structure, high purity, and precisely crafted shapes, its mechanical resistance renders it exceptionally well-suited for catalyst supports.
